Days of Longing

To me. Summer is a season of joy. I am sure, not many would agree to this. When you are an inch close to being gone and burnt to ashes given to forty-six degrees of heat, my statement may sound either contemplation of a vacation or a neurotic heat disorder.

Trust me it is neither. It is another blissful way of “Hopelessly optimistic” my school of thought.

And why not? Which other season brings you the sheer pleasure of eating mangoes for dinner? The juicy-fruity watermelons and oranges in amazing colorful hue  remind me of life yet to be lived is going to be similar. Colorful and sweet.

The prizewinner is of course, Ice –Golas. Read them slush if you wish to but let me confess, nights after nights walking near River Thames in London, sitting next to River Sean in Paris and eating orange slush with friends in both places in so called summers, I have longed to be back home and eat real Ice gratings dipped in fragrant rose syrup.

A few things in life do not change and thank heaven for small mercy. Summers have not changed and so is my attraction of bounty it brings. No wonder, when I got a call from my dear friend Neil to be back in the summertime in Europe, he stated,” Mad or what, summer in India?” my reaction was,” Mad or what, summer in India.”

 Where else…

Rama, This is first time I am watching you writing this. Strange though nourishing. You made summer a kewl season. Good that I ate golas..not to mention first time.:) True..days of longing..

Indeed not only summer is the season of joy, but it is a season which shares special moments spend with your friends and dear ones. I am sure you would agree to that…

The season gives you the pleasure of eating Mangoes (king of all the fruits). Infact for me mango in any form is always a welcome. Though I have come across some one who loves to eat mangoes but can not and does not prefer Mango Juice (Aam Rus / Keri no rus). So all the people out there reading this comment make sure you only gift mangoes (specifically Alphanso) to the owner of this blog but never you dare to offer even a spoon of mango juice.

Water melon: I must say the best thirst quencher of the season.

Rama how can you miss ICE-Chilled Strawberry milk shake,

The prize winner of the season ICE-GOLA:
Ice-Gola share special place in summer. And if I remember this is one season which I am sure most of us remember since childhood, it has been integral part of life since school days to till date.

The variety and innovation has been lot over these many years but there are two flavours which are all time favourites.” Rose and Khus” . I am sure Rama you would agree to that. And by the way the gola’s should be of sweet flavour .

Good Rama you wrote this blog and made Summers so Cool. ,

What a way to answer all the critics of summer season in India :)

Agreed to each and every point of yours here. I believe summer brings families also closer as people tend to take walk late nights etc.

And now India has IPL in the summer which makes it even more interesting. Believe it or not but it provides a real fun to cricket lovers and non cricket lovers as well.

Long live summer in India :)

  • Rama Says:

  • Rama Says:

  • boss. Says:

  • Jille-illahi Says:

Boss, its still not late to start one dedicated mango shop, and you will have one dedicated loyal customer (the blog owner) but the mangoes will not match the sweetness of Ice-Golas…….

  • boss. Says:

Boss’ tip : Natural sweetness though less sweet is always healthy to cherish..Avoid saccharine.
