Very tough one to crack !!!

a small situation - and will let the readers decide whether it is luck or choice.

a bunch of students enroll for an MBA degree in finance in one of the most prestigious institutes of India targeting to graduate in 2008. The campus placement record till 2006 and 2007 is excellent. All their seniors are offered (and most accept lucrative salaries). They are all elated... increasing salary trends raise the expectations sky high. And then the meltdown hits the world.

No companies come for campus recruitments. They start running around to secure a job.. but with financial meltdown, nothing seems to be there anywhere. in the end, they accept menial jobs are management trainees in small time companies so that they can make ends meet - else even these jobs will go !

the next year, economy again looks up. the companies again start coming for campus recruitments. their juniors get much better offers - and they are happily accepted. Since these guys are already graduated, they are no longer eligible for the campus rounds.

now my question

The batches of 2007, 2008, 2009 all did the same things (ignoring the earlier and the latter batches). so what makes the batch 2008 - a loser (figuratively and comparatively speaking)

what were the choices (and based on what data / presumptions) that went bad for the batch 2008.

how can a kid of approx 20 know what will the future trend of the course they are joining.

luck by chance / luck by choice ! I leave it to the readers

claimer : this is an actual scenario and bears close resemblance to true events that happened with people who are mostly alive !!!

Isn’t luck that last factor which supports one’s own choice?

People say "Lucky you" are actually seeing themselves in what you achieved. For them you are lucky because they could not achieve in life what you have, whether it is success, or money or lifestyle.

I find these people not happy for us being lucky but they see us as if we got luck by chance & not them.

Only the person himself knows what price he has paid for being lucky.

So it definately Luck by Choice & not chance...
